Don’t Miss The Ark

If you grew up in the western part of the world you probably remember hearing the story of Noah’s Ark as a child even if your parents didn’t take or send you to church every Sunday. Typically children’s books on Noah’s Ark depict the story as a joyous occasion with cartoon like animals with smiles boarding the Ark as if it was a new ride at Universal Studios. Looking back on things as an adult this “light hearted” children’s story is actually about God’s just decision to destroy all life on earth. The purge of all human beings save 8, Noah and his family. Evil covered the earth and mankind’s thoughts were wicked continually. This grieved God and He decided to start over by purging the Earth with waters from above and below. The only way to escape the destruction was to get on the Ark God commanded Noah to build. Yes because of man’s wickedness God felt sorrow and regretted creating man.

Centuries later Jesus Christ himself said, “But as in the days of Noah so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. In other words, when Jesus Christ returns the world and the people in it will be in the same wicked condition as when Noah and his family entered the Ark.

Friends we are currently living in that wicked world. We live in a world where children starve while able people stand by, broken homes are the norm and successful marriages are rare, pornography is literally at our fingertips, over 20 million people are victims of sex-trafficking, and infidelity is mire entertainment. Not to mention mass shootings, government corruption, and roughly 45 million babies killed through abortion since 1970. Some of you may be thinking that these examples of wickedness only apply to the grossly immoral and not to your “everyday law abiding citizen”. However God’s standard for good is far higher than ours. For you to call yourself good based on God’s standard you must be morally perfect in thought, word, and deed. Who are we kidding, we have all lied, stolen (even if it’s something small), and we all have had lustful thoughts for someone who isn’t our spouse. If you haven’t noticed I was addressing you and I in light of the 10 commandments, and based on them we all have failed to be considered “good” in the sight of a Holy God.

You’re probably thinking, “if that’s the standard then not even Mother Teresa deserves to go to heaven”. And you are absolutely right, she doesn’t. See this why what Jesus did is so special. The Son of God came down to earth and lived a perfect life for 33 years. He didn’t sin not even one lie. He then voluntarily sacrificed Himself on the cross to pay for our sins and then He rose from the dead on the third day defeating death. See God can’t just sweep our sins under the rug, there hast to be a payment. The bible clearly states, “without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.” – Hebrews 9:22. By God’s own law sin must be paid for. Jesus Christ is willing to pay it for you all one has to do is confess with his mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in his heart that God raised Him from the dead and he will be saved (Romans 10:9). Back in Noah’s day him and his family had to enter the Ark in order to escape God’s judgement in the form of a flood. Today we must believe on Jesus Christ to escape the wrath to come.

Again in Matthew 24:37-39 Jesus said, “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Today Jesus Christ is the Ark and the door is still wide open, enter into Jesus before it is too late. Repent which it turn your heart and mind from yourself and towards God. Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose from the dead putting conquering death itself.
